codecentric mittendrin

Kickoff 2016

Hi Guys,

with a small delay, we are pleased to announce the  kick off meetup 2016. We meet at codecentric office to hear two talks. See you soon!

1. Holger Kache

Title: Cloudant – an IBM noSQL Database-as-a-Service

Abstract: IBM has a fully managed noSQL database in its portfolio based on the Apache CouchDB project. Our service is called “Cloudant” and available on the IBM Infrastructure-as-a-Service called “Bluemix”. In this talk, I will give you an overview of Cloudant and demonstrate how a developer can work with it. The talk will focus on analytical solutions one can build with Cloudant using technologies like Hadoop M/R, Apache Spark, or traditional BI.

Bio: Holger Kache is a senior software engineer at IBM. He has worked in cloud services as well as enterprise software development for the past 16 years. His expertise is in big data projects with a focus on data integration. Holger leads the integration efforts for the Cloud Data Services group in IBM and is a firm believer in the potential of data based integrations.

2. Alex Petrov

Title: Gossip Protocols

Abstract: What are the gossip protocols, what they’re used for, current production implementations. I’m going to cover several papers on the Epidemic Broadcast, how the data is replicated across clusters in the most contemporary NoSQL databases.

Bio: Alex is a Polyglot Programmer, Lead Data Infrastructure Engineer at Instana Inc, a long-term Cassandra user, 2015 Cassandra MVP, Project Reactor committer, working on data processing pipelines, distributed systems and near-realtime processing backends.
