7:30pm—Strangling Hybrids with React Native by Adam Terlson (@adamterlson, InterNations)
Launching a new mobile app is a daunting task, made more difficult by hundreds of thousands of users that need migrating from legacy hybrid apps on iOS and Android. Typical roll out strategies (beta programs, parallel apps in the store, etc) have their advantages and disadvantages—but rather than pursuing one of them, we got creative with React Native.
My talk will share why and how we rolled out our new React Native app by means of a tried-and-true technique (on the web at least) for killing legacy: the strangler architecture. The approach offered some pretty unique and awesome advantages—but not without a cost.
