codecentric mittendrin

DevOps is not enough & Continous Delivery on Steroids

End of June our colleagues Uwe Friedrichsen and Benedikt Ritter will travel to Berlin to give two talks at the GOTO Night Meetup. Here are both abstracts:

DevOps is not enough (Uwe)

The DevOps movement is gaining momentum – which is good. But still DevOps often is seen way to small. DevOps is not only some more collaboration between Development and Operations. It is the implementation driver for a massive change in IT – and it is not enough in itself.

In this session we will examine the drivers and goals behind DevOps, why we need the change, how DevOps affects the whole IT value chain and what else is needed to really „become DevOps“. We will develop an „DevOps ecosystem“ and draw the missing lines between several important concepts that all feed into the actual goals behind DevOps.

Continuous Delivery on Steroids: Introduction to Heroku (Benedikt)

Heroku is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) provider. With their latest feature „Heroku Pipelines“ it is quite easy to build a Continuous Delivery Pipeline. For this reason this topic is very relevant for developers who want to concentrate onto application development without losing the advantages of Continuous Delivery. IT managers on the other hand also have to decide between Do-it-yourself Continuous Delivery and Heroku PaaS environment.

In this presentation Benedikt Ritter will show you how such a Heroku Pipeline looks like and how it relates to a classical Continuous Delivery pipeline. A classical Continuous Delivery pipeline is complemented by test automation and code metrics. For this reason, Benedikt also talks about the integration between Heroku on the one hand and GitHub and auxiliary services like Travis CI, and codacy on the other.
