What to expect

With our gap analysis, we examine, evaluate and plan the transformation of your existing software architecture in a targeted manner. We know that Success depends not only on technology - but above all on solutions that are precisely tailored to the challenges of your organization. That's why we can also review your development organization on request: methods, processes, roles and mindsets.

Together with us, you decide what we focus on and how far the analysis goes.

Typically, our gap analysis comprises the following steps - individually tailored to your company, your architecture, your methodology and the information requirements of your stakeholders:

Step 1: Determine the current state
In the first step, we get a clear picture of the current state (current state) of your architecture and - if relevant - your development organization. To do this, we conduct targeted workshops with key stakeholders, especially architects and senior developers. In these workshops, we jointly analyze the existing state and uncover any deviations from the desired target state.

We review the existing documentation and define the focus topics for the in-depth analysis in dialog with you. Possible focal points include the review of quality targets, the functional and business suitability of systems, data flows, security aspects, the efficiency of architecture patterns used or dealing with new requirements in day-to-day business.

Based on the insights gained and depending on the scope of the architecture, we define the most important use cases together with the relevant stakeholders. These reflect key business processes and show how effectively the current software supports them - for example in terms of extensibility, maintainability or sensible domain separation. We also include technical use cases such as data analysis or monitoring.

We then take a detailed look at the relevant existing systems - with the aim of gaining a sound understanding of the current status at system level.
Step 2: Define the target state
Based on the insights gained, we define a reference architecture (target state) to specifically address the identified challenges. In doing so, we take into account modern, established best practices in software architecture, always in the individual context of your company and in consultation with the relevant stakeholders.
Step 3: Create a roadmap for modernization
Now we close the gap: We systematically compare actual and target, document weak points and formulate specific transformation measures. This results in a strategic roadmap - a clearly structured, prioritized roadmap for the step-by-step modernization of your architecture and, if necessary, your development organization.

Each step is comprehensible, implementable and geared towards maximum impact - with the aim of making your systems more efficient, scalable and future-proof.

What a gap analysis can do for you

The aim of a gap analysis is to gain a holistic picture of your software architecture and development organization - with a clear focus on the need for action and the path to a high-performance reference architecture.
