Initial situation
A client from the furniture industry commissioned codecentric to implement a web-based validation tool. codecentric worked with the client to develop the architecture for the project in the initial planning phase. It was planned to develop a web application based on a SpringBoot backend, a Vue frontend, and the AWS Cloud.
However, after the initial phase, the client expressed a desire for a local German cloud solution. The client chose mittwald because they had already successfully implemented projects with this provider. However, when the project started, mittwald did not offer any Java support. At the same time, the challenge was to find a flexible, fast and cost-effective solution that would meet the client's changing technical requirements. An approach had to be found that not only integrated the new cloud provider, but also ensured that the application is easy to manage and update.
Solution
Three consultants from codecentric reviewed and adapted the proposed architecture in order to meet the customer's desire to work with mittwald while ensuring the high quality standards of the future web application. An agile approach made it possible to integrate the customer's modified requirements without incurring significant costs.
The following concrete measures were taken:
- Technological adaptation: Switch from a Java-based architecture to TypeScript with Nest.js for the backend to ensure seamless integration into mittwald’s infrastructure. The use of Keycloak for authentication and authorization to enable secure and scalable user management that can be set up and maintained by mittwald at short notice.
- Infrastructure adaptation: Implementation of the application on mittwald’s platform to provide a local, data protection compliant cloud solution for the customer.
- Agile development: Close collaboration and regular coordination with the customer to ensure that the solution meets its requirements exactly and that any changes can be implemented quickly.
- Efficient implementation strategy: The systematic use of new technologies and cooperation with the cloud provider made it possible to deploy the solution quickly and cost-effectively.
Result
Thanks to the measures taken and the flexible approach, it was possible to develop a customized, high-performance and scalable web application for the customer that perfectly meets its changing needs. The customer's requirements were quickly and efficiently met by switching from the originally planned Java-based architecture to Nest.js and Keycloak. Implementing the solution on the mittwald platform made it possible to provide a cost-effective infrastructure that is nevertheless powerful and scalable.
The agile, close partnership and coordination between codecentric, the customer and mittwald allowed the modified requirements to be perfectly integrated and implemented. The project resulted in a satisfied cusotmer with a reliable application hosted in Germany that was implemented in a budget-conscious manner, and which simplifies internal processes and ensures competitive advantage.
