The mixed team approach for successful IT projects

At codecentric, we offer you experienced software developers from the EU and other European countries for your IT projects.

As a German company based in Solingen, we have four of our own IT nearshoring offices in Portugal, Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina with 100+ employees. With our mixed-team approach, we ensure the quality and timely implementation of your IT projects.

In short: with nearshoring, we offer you a perfect balance of quality, costs and efficiency.

Nearshoring with codecentric is different

Why different?

In our IT nearshoring projects, we take a mixed team approach:

- Consultants & developers from Germany and experts
- experts from our nearshoring locations.

By working closely with all team members, we avoid the typical communication barriers in nearshoring projects that lead to misunderstandings and false expectations.

What does that look like in concrete terms?

We integrate our nearshoring colleagues directly into our project team - and not just at a technical level. They share the same values and the same commitment to technical excellence as our German software developers.

To ensure that communication within the team – including with our nearshoring colleagues – runs smoothly, we use English as the project language. This ensures that everyone can communicate well and that the exchange with you and your team remains efficient. If you prefer to communicate in German, we will of course make that possible. Our product managers and project managers will then speak to you directly – so communication always goes both ways.

We use modern tools to keep in touch, organize virtual meetings and ensure that everyone is on the same page, no matter where they are.

FAQs on nearshoring

What is nearshoring versus offshoring?
In offshoring, business processes are relocated to more distant countries, often to save costs – to Asia, for example. Nearshoring, on the other hand, means that companies outsource their processes to nearby countries, often in a similar time zone, such as Eastern Europe for German companies. This has the advantage that communication is easier, cultural differences are smaller and companies can react more quickly.
When is nearshoring the solution for me?
Nearshoring can make sense for you if you want to save costs without sacrificing good communication and flexibility. Due to the proximity in the time zone and the cultural similarities, collaboration is often much easier and faster. It is particularly practical if you have a project where close coordination and fast response times are important - nearshoring has clear advantages over more distant outsourcing options.
Where are your nearshoring developers based?
Our nearshoring developers are based in Lisbon (Portugal), Novi Sad (Serbia), Banja Luka and Doboj (Bosnia-Herzegovina). Around 100 colleagues currently work at these locations.
Which technologies are your nearshore developers proficient in?
In terms of technology expertise, our nearshore developers are very broadly positioned. They offer expertise in classic front-end and back-end technologies, cloud architecture and development, mobile development, agile methods and roles, to name just a few qualifications. Talk to us about the technology expertise you are looking for.
What does cooperation look like in nearshoring?
We work together in mixed teams in our customers' nearshoring IT projects. This means that you always have a first point of contact in Germany who defines the project requirements together with you and then ensures that they are implemented in the team.
