Modern and cozy – not a contradiction
While individual moving boxes are still being unpacked, furniture rearranged, and cables laid, the modern yet wonderfully cozy interior of the spacious, light-filled rooms of the new building already invites productive lingering. First meetings and phone calls are taking place in the soundproofed retreat rooms. The two coffee machines in the cafeteria are already running at full speed – after all, coffee is a basic necessity for every software developer. In the open-plan offices of the four-story building, the first teams are sitting together. Or rather: sitting or standing. Because some employees are making use of the height-adjustable furniture to transform their workstations into spine-friendly standing desks.
Solingen Valley?
With its homely, colorfully playful flair and its generous floor space of 4,000 square meters, the new company headquarters is reminiscent of a counterpart in Silicon Valley. Not without reason – the founders and board members of codecentric AG pursue a corporate culture inspired by other highly innovative IT companies (keywords: 4+1 model and flat hierarchies). The codecentric new building could be just the beginning of a new center of IT innovation – in Solingen, in Germany, and possibly far beyond. An extension is already being considered, and the successful startup Instana, a codecentric spin-off that has already attracted worldwide attention, will also work from the new codecentric headquarters in the future.
