codecentric AG has once again successfully established itself on the prestigious Lünendonk List in 2026, securing position 16 in the current ranking. Published annually by the market research firm Lünendonk & Hossenfelder, this overview is regarded as the most important industry barometer for the German IT services market. It provides a well-founded overview of the most relevant mid-sized players in the market, which achieve a total revenue of up to 500 million euros.
With total revenue of 100.6 million euros for the 2025 financial year, codecentric breaks through the 100-million-euro barrier and records solid organic growth compared to the previous year (95.2 million euros in 2024). The number of employees in Germany also rose to 647 FTEs.
Challenges and market trends: A look back at 2025
The market environment in 2025 was the second consecutive challenging year for the entire industry. The top 25 mid-sized IT companies grew by an average of just 1.9 percent – a clear stabilisation of demand at a low level, after growth rates of over ten percent had been the norm between 2015 and 2023.
A noticeable structural economic downturn is responsible for this. Declining revenue shares and a weak investment climate in struggling customer sectors such as the automotive industry and public administration put many providers under pressure. Some market participants had to record partially significant revenue declines in 2025 – particularly those with a high dependency on individual export-oriented sectors.
"2025 made it clear to the entire industry that isolated digitalisation measures or superficial trend topics are no longer sufficient to survive in a volatile market environment,"
explains Rainer Vehns, CEO and founder of codecentric AG.
"Companies today rightly demand measurable value. The fact that we were able to hold our ground steadily during this phase and surpass the 100-million-euro revenue threshold confirms our course: we consistently invest in technological depth. Only those who build data quality, cloud-native infrastructures and AI platforms structurally from the ground up create genuine, crisis-proof competitive advantages for their customers."
Cautiously optimistic: Revised outlook for 2026/2027
While the economic outlook for 2026 and 2027 remains subdued on average across the market, the mid-sized IT sector is nonetheless looking ahead with an expected average revenue increase of 8.5 percent for the current year. Although this figure has been revised downward compared to the optimistic forecasts from the beginning of 2025, it underscores the potential that lies in the consistent modernisation of IT landscapes.
For codecentric, the renewed Lünendonk ranking confirms that a focus on quality, agile processes and technological excellence continues to bear fruit even in rougher economic winds. Whether through high-profile industry appearances – such as the recent TDWI 2026 industry conference in Munich – or as a strategic partner for upper mid-market and corporate clients: codecentric is excellently positioned to actively help shape the upcoming waves of transformation in the German economy.
