Challenges and Market Trends: Looking Back at 2024
The 25 leading mid-sized IT consulting and system integration companies grew by an average of only 2.2 percent in 2024 – a decline compared to the usual growth average of around 10 percent per year in recent years. Contributing factors included rising costs, delayed or reduced digitalization projects, and halted software development initiatives at client companies. It also became apparent that many IT service providers remain heavily dependent on the automotive industry, a sector that has recently been affected by a prolonged crisis.
In addition, customers are increasingly shifting from custom development to standard software solutions and cloud-based models, which is challenging the business models of many providers. This market environment has also prompted codecentric to continuously evolve its own services in order to address the changing needs of its customers.
Positive Outlook: Growth in the Coming Years
For 2025, the industry is optimistic: the analyzed IT service providers expect revenue growth of 7.2 percent. For 2026, growth of as much as 9.6 percent is forecast. These positive prospects are driven significantly by increased investment in digital transformation and innovative technologies. As a strong partner for mid-sized companies, codecentric sees itself in an excellent position to capitalize on these growth opportunities.
