On-site in Cologne, we were at the Jugendzentrum Digital in the Deutz district. The Jugendzentrum Digital was created shortly after the start of the pandemic as a place where young people can meet online. The premises of the youth center on Sachsenbergstraße 10 in Cologne only opened just under a year ago.
What is Jugend hackt?
Jugend hackt is aimed at young people who are interested in technology and want to develop their skills in software and hardware development in a safe space with other young people.
Jugend hackt hybrid
This year, 17 young people attended in person and three joined remotely. To integrate the remote participants, the project rooms were equipped with video conferencing equipment. In addition, a virtual event space was available, enabling remote participants and parents to take part in the final presentation.
codecentric is not only a sponsor of "Jugend hackt" – codecentric's Martin Wildau also supported the participants alongside nine other volunteer mentors with advice and hands-on help.
During the event in Cologne, a total of five projects were realized in small groups of up to six young people.
codecentric has been supporting the "Jugend hackt" event for many years, including at the last in-person event in 2019.
We are already looking forward to next year, when "Jugend hackt" celebrates its tenth anniversary.
