From more than 30 nominations, the jury had previously selected four final candidates for the Citizens' Award. In the end, Daniel won the race. The Solingen Citizens' Award is organized and sponsored by the Stadtsparkassen, the B. Moll Media Group, and the radio station Radio RSG.

What is "Hey, Alter!"?

The initiative, which was originally launched in Braunschweig, pursues the goal of providing children and young people from families who cannot afford their own devices with donated computers from private individuals and companies, thereby helping to promote equal opportunities. "Old computers for young people" – that's the motto. The discarded but still functional devices can be dropped off with the "Hey, Alter" team in Solingen (for drop-off times see website) and will then be refurbished by the project team before being handed over to the new owners.

The initiative is now represented in 31 cities. codecentric employees are also involved in the local group in Berlin, among other places.

Sandy Weck and Daniel Marks shared more about the founding of the Solingen local group in an interview we conducted with the two initiators last autumn after its establishment: https://www.codecentric.de/aktuelles/hey-alter-solingen-interview
