1. Fresh Ideas on Recycled Paper
Since issue Vol. 18, we have been printing the Softwerker on recycled paper. Some readers may have already noticed the slightly rougher texture. So if you subscribe to the print edition, you have no reason to feel guilty. On the contrary: among our readership and at codecentric, there are still many fans of freshly printed material, so this option will continue to be available.
2. Print –> PDF
For those who prefer to read the online edition anyway and are happy to forgo the print copy, we have created a simple way to switch their subscription from print to "PDF only" with just one click: A few days ago, everyone who subscribes to the print version received an email in which they simply had to click a button to change their subscription starting from issue 20. Within the first two days, 200 subscribers had already taken advantage of this option and will henceforth only receive the PDF download.
Independently of this, it has always been and still is possible at any time to send an email to softwerker@codecentric.de to request the switch. We are of course always happy to receive feedback about the Softwerker!
Less Paper, More Forest
This does good in every respect, because: the printing costs saved this way – which already amount to more than 400 euros with 200 switched subscriptions – flow directly into our eco-sponsorship project in the Westerwald (here you can find more information about it).
Last but not least, we would like to thank everyone who has remained loyal to the Softwerker over the years and supports the Softwerker community in growing sustainably!
